A great way to get back on your feet -taxi driving

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share a bit of my story with you...

Since being declared bankcrupt a few years back I was really struggling to make ends meet. I had always run my own business since leaving college (which meant little job experience).

So I decided to become a taxi driver. The training is actually quite drawn out in my local area so it took over 4 months to actually get working...

But it was worth it. Taxi driving gives you cash in your hand unlike most other forms of work (ligitimate ). The work is easy, but the hours can be long. I would recommend to anyone in the same boat.

I no longer work as a driver as my internet biz is now earning me more, though I still keep my taxi license. You never know when you may need it!!

I hope this helps.

PJ

Goo tip :) I have thought about this a few times but I tend to have old bangers lol for cars, you know anything cheap with an MOT when it needs replacing :)

Where do you stand so far as car? SOme places now have rules I think where your car has to be under a certain age and also the taxi "MOT" is a lot stricter than a normal one?

I know there are schemes that taxi companies operate where you can "rent" the taxi from them and pay a weekly rent but was always under the impression these were quite expensive?

Great idea though, work for yourself and most importantly the holy grail cash in your hand :)

Rules on cars greatly differ by area. Generally if a car is no more than 8 years old you should be fine.

MOT's also vary by area, best to contact local council.

Renting a car can cost between £150-£175 per week, sounds a lot but you should expect to turn over £500-£1000 per week.
