Full & final settlement advice please

Im considering making a full and final settlement to Reliable collections acting on behalf of JD Williams.I have been paying these for 6 months via a DMP (Kensington financial management consultants) all interest has been frozen and debt is slowly coming down.

3 different accounts

Ammounts owed now

£996

£374

£180

My question is has anybody settled with them before and if so what percentage ? im thinking of starting at 35% for each one and if neccesary going up to 60%

Grateful in advance for any replies

Reliable collections are JDWilliams in house collections agency so in effect they are the same company. I would have a go JDW are really bad for adding a load of interest to defaulting accounts so play on that a bit. Good luck mate.

Yes with them being in house I would think you would be lucky to get them to agree to those sort of percentages. That said it doesn't hurt to try (providing you make it clear to them that the money you would offer is not yours, so they cannot refuse the offer and then still expect a proportion of the lump sum).

How much are you paying kensington for your DMP?
are you aware that you could have a debt charity administer for you to save you the monthly fee you pay? or you could self-administer your DMP.
Either would mean you will pay that bit more to each creditor and therefore get debt free that bit quicker.

    Hi Tixy

Its actually wifes debt and i am considering cancelling Kensington if the F & F's dont work, (they are charging £35 per month ).and doing as you suggest use a charity or go it alone DMP..I believe i would need to give 1 months notice to cancel.

As for the F & F offers thanks to this great forum and people like yourself i know about the template letters to send and say its coming from a 3rd party etc

Well my advice is based on you wanting to F+F in october. It will buy you time and slow them down in the chase etc, untill you have the cash to clear ;)
