P11d questions

Very confused with this as i've never had one before.

I recieved approx £2000 towards mileage but on my P11d it shows approx £600.

Which figure do I need to tell the tax credits about? and why that one?

Would the higher or lower figure be used to calculate council tax (hope the lower as its only repaying what i've paid out to do my job not increase my income)

thank you

Not totally sure about the p11d
But if you receive govt approved mileage rates of 40p for the first 10000 miles and 25p after that. The amount you received does not need to go on your P11d.
So i would assume that you receive more than the approved rates.
You probably need to go back to your employer and double check this.

    hi

yes i get more than 40p per mile (44p) so understand i am taxed on above that which is the £600 but do i class the £2000 as income or just the figure on the P11d which is lower?

You use the figure from the P11d £600 this is the taxable benefit.

It is classed as a taxable benefit of your employment and i believe will be added to your income when calculating council tax benefit.
