What effects do defaults/bad history have with lenders long term?

Hi.
Lets say ive defaulted with Lloyds, Ulster bank and Capital 1 on credit card debts, what are the chances i'd ever get any credit with these or there related companies ever again?.
I wont be going near Cap 1 again but say I want a mortgage in 10 years with a company in the Lloyds or Ulster group, are they going to turn me down point blank because of my history with them?. Guess it would be expected i'm just curious really. I guess maybe this is where whether the debt was satisfied or not may come in. :)

The information stays on the credit file for 6 years from when it was added (3 years for late payments). However how long banks remember to keep their own records and if they use/can find them when you apply is really up to them.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

ccj's stay on your file from the date of default and not the date the ccj was issued.
