Can You Find Life Insurance Details After Someone Has Died

My Brother Inlaw Died Recently At A Young Age. He Lived Alone And Left Two Sisters. When They Cleared His House They Did Not Find Any Insurance Policies. Is There A Web Site You Can Go On To Find If Someone Did Have Life Insurance

  • Hi Jeff,

I am a newbie too but although others may be able to give you a website, I can just give you the benefit of experience.

My dad passed away suddenly aged 56 in September and his flat had thousands of letters opened and unopened. The easiest thing we found to do rather than letting the solicitor charge us a fortune to open and dispose of the letters was to ring the top three or four insurance companies in the UK and tell them the situation and ask them to check their computer systems. As so many have merged and been taken over it was easier than we thought because at some stage they have all been interlinked. Found out Dad had various policies and had cashed them all in over the last five years, good man! At least he got to spend some of his hardearned cash. ( I found Norwich Union the be particularily helpful just requesting dad's name and postcode) If not the Financial Services Authority should be able to point you in the right direction

    Hope that helps
If I told you, you really wouldn't believe it could happen!

    Hi Jeff,

The above is sound advice ,I haven't been able to find a website that deals with this yet but your best option is to check the big companies...............there's every chance though that because he was young he hadn't got around to getting any insurance.

Sometimes people are covered with their employers too so check that out.............then check bank-statements for regular payments ,if he had a DD set up to pay for insurances,as far back as you can, check all paper-work such as diaries etc,for any mention of one.
If he has any there is likely to be something relating to it's existance somewhere.

    good luck
