and I thought it might be worth having a look in the mega index to see if there are any recipes in there.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Hi ageandjo,
You lucky thing! I love mangos and avocados.
With the mango I'd just eat the fruit....it's a bit tricky to prepare, so have a look at Delia's instructions. If you have a stick blender you can still make smoothies.
Avocados are delicious too, although don't open them until you plan to use them as the flesh turns brown very quickly.
Take a knife and slice through the middle, the knife won't go the whole way through because of the large stone. Once you have sliced the whole way around use the knife to prize the two halves apart and remove the stone.
Eat it as it is, use it sliced in salads, or fill it (the cavity where the stone was) with whatever you fancy.....one of my favourites is chopped raw cauliflower and bacon bits mixed with garlic mayonnaise.
As Liz says you could make guacamole, though I've never tried it, here's Delia's recipe
I hope you enjoy them both.:)

Edit: Better instructions on how to get the stone out of an avocado here0 -
Hi, if the mangoes are really soft why not put them into muffins with a little bit of honey? Once made the muffins will keep for about 5 days.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Homemade mango sorbet!
And guacamole.... Lovely!0 -
Why don't you try the Mango thingie off the Sainsbury's advert? I made it and the kids loved it! It is just chopped mango topped with some yoghurt and crumbled up ginger nut biscuits.
With avocados I like to make chicken, bacon and avocado salad. I chop up some cooked chicken, add some crumbled grilled bacon, a couple of chopped spring onions and a couple of chopped avocados, with a bit of salt and pepper. It is lovely on crusty bread and butter!Jane

Avocados are a great source of vitamin E - eaten on their own or take out the soft green insides, mash with a fork and spread on toast.
Yummy - its like a rich, tasty butter.0 -
mmm, chicken and avo salad sarnies, my favourite.
As for the mango, I'd just have it straight as a fruit. Some fresh lime squeezed over makes the flavour really come out.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
