Help change of location

I have worked at my present job for a year and half, I work part time.

The premises is only 5 minutes away from my home, I have just been told by my boss today that they are moving premises within the next few months(apparently everyone else in the business knew before me!)

The new premises will be 20 minutes away and my pay will stay the same. I am not happy that they have known about this for months yet not told me and also that I will be worse off as will have to use more petrol.

My question is what can I do?
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

    1) Find another job.
    2) Ask for a payrise.
    3) Accept that you will have more travelling costs.

I mean is there anything I can do in regard to complaining about it?

I don't think so no, unless there is anything in your contract, which I doubt.

They are entitled to move premises without having to consider you. It's not nice I know.

I don't have a contract, asked on many occasions for one and never got one!

I don't think it'll make any difference with the relocation anyhow.

I don't honestly know what to suggest, you either have to like it or lump it.. :(

Can you move jobs easily? Find something else?

You do have one because you turn up for work when due, it is just unwritten and unless you have been told you have extra perks compared to statutory then you have to taken statutory as standard.

As for the move in location, you can all but ask but the fact that it is only an extra 15 minutes either way will probably mean that unless they are generous the answer will be no
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

There are many, many people on this board that would love to have a 20 minute commute. Although your commute is longer than before try and look on the bright side, you still have a shorter commute than a majority of people.
