Not been paid...

Hi,

I worked for 10 days in an office at the end of May, beginning of June. I left purely because it was making me miserable, nothing for me to do, everytime I asked for work they didn't give me any, I just felt miserable the whole 10 days, so I left.

Anywho at the end of May they paid me. I emailed them on Weds to ask if they could confirm I would be getting paid on that day. They said no, you'll get paid by end of play Thursday. Fine.

Thursday came and went, no wages. I emailed at 6pm basically saying 'I've not been paid yet'. No reply.

Today at 3 ish I emailed again saying 'I wasn't paid when you said I would be, can you confirm I'll be paid today'

Reply purely said 'I'll pass your query onto finance'. Checked at 6pm, no wages have been paid again.

So I want to know this - I wasn't given a contract to sign, if they don't pay me for the 2 days they owe me, where do I stand?

I need this money badly as I am really struggling, its not alot to them but to me it really is.

Thanks

I know this is horse bolt gated but if you NEEDED it that badly then why did you leave your job!

As for getting the money write them a letter stating the action you have taken to chase the money owed back and that this is a letter before action and that if the money is not in the account within 7 working days that you will have no choice but to take them to an employment tribunal.

I am sure you could get a template for this somewhere.

I have another job that starts on Monday. And yes I KNOW it was daft to leave a job with nothing to go to but I really was getting depressed by it. I've suffered depression before and know the signs, I didn't want to go down that road again.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look up a template. :-)

Send this - email will be fine:

    Dear Sirs

Please handle this as a grievance

On DATE I made a formal written request to you for my final payslip and P45 document, as of todays' date I have not yet received these.

I feel I must now remind you that you have a legal obligation to provide these documents to me.

If I do not now receive my final payslip and P45 document within seven (7) days of the date of this email, I will have no choice but to file for an Employment Tribunal to recover them for me, as well as any monies outstanding.

    I await your response.
