Tesco Pay at Pump and Co op Visa card

Well after the success stories on the home shopping thread I tried my Co op Visa card (which often is mistaked for an Electron) on a Tesco pay at Pump and I am pleased to report it work for the first time today!

Will be experimenting with Asdas pay at pump next as that still wont accept my Visa card as it thinks its a Electron......

Well thank you for letting us know about that. I was under the impression that Pay at Pumps were a big no no everywhere. I'll be giving that a go too

It is worth remembering that you only need £1 in your account to authorise pay at pump then you can fill upto £100 of fuel, however I have been reading about the co-op's 3 strikes and your out rule for bouncing payments and as this would take you overdrawn they may frown on it even more if you make a mistake so be careful.......................

Thats a good point underpressure....I find you have to be careful with budgeting on the Co op account as the online service isnt always up to date. We are very careful with payments. The fact that we can now use Tescos pay at Pump though is a bonus as means I dont have to drag my toddler son into the kiosk when I pay and leaves my barclays account free for saving for the monthly costs such as MOT/saving for xmas etc.

Slightly off topic but do the Visa Electron cards from other banks work in Tesco pay-at-the-pump terminals? I've got a Halifax Easycash account which used to until a couple of years ago....

Barclays basic account does work at Tesco pay at pump...not sure about other basic accounts
