Received letter from "Pre Legal Recoveries"

I've received a letter from Pre Legal Recoveries about a debt I owe to Marks & Spencer.
I have been making token payments to Marks & Spencer up to now.
They have "told" me to call them otherwise they're going to send someone around to my house.
It appears that they're debt collectors for Marks & Spencer?
Im not sure what to do - should I call them or just continue making my token payments to M&S?
Thanks.

Hi there,
If you are contacted by a Debt Recovery Agent (DCA), you should send a letter to them with your offer of payment and a copy of your budget. Your payments should be now paid to Pre Legal Recoveries.
It is unlikely that they will send someone to your home to collect for the debt. Most of the time, they will just make contact with you via the telephone. In the unlikely chance that they do send a door stop collector, don’t answer your door. They have no rights of entry and can not take any of your goods – they are not bailiffs.
I hope that this helps.

Hi
Sorry to hijack your thread, I have a question regarding the above. If a DCA contacts you to explain that they are now collecting on behalf of the original creditor or in fact that they have purchased the debt outright and are the legal owners, is it right to simply just alter your payment details with CCCS to automatically send this new company your DMP payment ?
I have done this in the past but now I am considering asking The DCA to prove that they own the debt before hand, after reading up and experiencing DCA tactics first hand, call me sceptical but couldn't anyone just write to you saying that they own the debt, surely there has to be proof before hand, like a letter from the original creditor ( in my case this has never happened)DMP mutual support thread member:3270 -

Hi,
It is unusual for the original creditor to contact you and tell you that they are selling the debt or have sold the debt.
Usually, you just get a letter from a DCA advising you that they are looking after the debt. If you are on a DMP then just email us or send the letter to us and we will change payment details.
I hope that this helps.
