Phillips Debt Recovery

This company are constantly harrassing me with letters and visits. They are trying to chase up a debt from someone who lived in my house before I moved in, I have been here almost 2 years now. I have rang them and told them this (many times) I have also shown them proof of my council tax bill with my name on it, all to no avail. I have now received a letter from them telling me they will visit my property again at a time which suits them and if they are any vehicles on the premises they can and will be removed. I have 2 cars at my property, surely they cannot remove a vehicle if it has nothing to do with thier debt. Where else can I go and this one? Anyone else had dealing with them? Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been posted on the wrong section.

Time to write a very stern letter telling them to cease contact with you and drop the idea of taking vehicles from the premises because you are not their debtor.
I think that their letter would contribute to harassment - if you tell them not to contact you again, but they do other than to confirm that they have taken note - it would be harassment.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Tell them they have to prove that the debt is in your name, otherwise to leave you alone.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

Thanks to both of you, I have already written to them, told them face to face, showed them council tax and utility bills, to which they replied.....Mr XXXXX could be your partner. These people are low they seem to stop at nothing. The thing I am worried most about is looking out of the window and seeing my car gone.0

That would be theft plain and simple, if it does go phone the police straight away! I doubt very much it will though these companies tend to use scare tactics more than anything real.
I'm pretty sure they have to PROVE that you owe them the debt, and if the next letter they send doesn't include that proof then it becomes harassment.Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!

Tell them you are aware of your rights, and that you are telling them, not asking them "is it true..." that they cannot take your goods for a debt for someone who is nothing to do with you and that if they visit your property they will have to leave as they'll be trespassing, and if they so much as try to take your cars then you will contact the police and complain about their attempted theft. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
