Heat Pads eg:Cura Heat

My Mum suffers with her back, and has had two operations. She often uses heat pads for relief such as Cura Heat.
These work out very expensive, can anyone point me in a direction to get them cheaper or in bulk.

We have tried alternatives ie: Poundland variations, but these are just not as effective.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated :A

If your Mum stays in a lot it would be better to get an electric heat pad. The initial cost may be expensive but it will last for years.

    Here's a couple of ideas.

i would second that , the heat pads are good but the electric .pad better supermarkets do offers on heat pads but the sticky adhesive can cause a rash after prolonged use,the electric pad can be turned off but holds the heat for ages another type that goes in the microwave usally filled with wheat husks are also good

I love the cureaheat pads, mainly in the winter but they are great for all sorts of pain. Unfortunelty I am like you I just can't afford to buy them. I look out for them on offer and I think they do have expiry dates so do keep your eyes out- about 5 months ago I got some from Waitrose for 99p per 2-pack, they do get reduced, stranger things have happened!

Mean time, I'd suggest the whear bags- the ones you warm up in the microwave, you do need to be near a microwave to use them but they do work in a similar way. Failing that a hot water bottle- need to be near a kettle and not so easy to travel with but if like me you can't afford the real-deal they are quite useful and you can get mini-hot water bottles (even in heart shapes!)

Thank you for all your replies, I will have a look at all the options mentioned :A
  • I have a polar bear that my son got for me, you take his insides out and heat it up in the microwave. He got me one of these as I don't like the smell of heated lavender that seems to come with the wheat husks ones. I look a bit strange with a polar bear sitting on my shoulder but it stays heated for a fair while and when it has cooled you can heat it back up again.Inside the bag seems to be small beads, not sure what they are but I am very impressed with it and there are all different varieties, maybe there are even ones that are not animals but do the same job.
