Anyone managed to negotiate/discharge a big portion of their debt?

Hi,

I owe approx £9,000 to Natwest and am under a default. Part of my debt is now with Triton (Credit Card debt) Natwest have offered me a full and final settlement of £4,000 for my loand and o/draft debts.

I sought advice from DebtFixers last year (BAD move :-( )

I pay Triton £14.93 pcm for my c/c and £45 pcm for each of my other debts. I still get letters/calls. I have a proper I/E sheet to send them now and will do so shortly.

Just wondered if anyone had any tips etc on how to get them to freeze interest/stop charges.

Cheers.

If you were to do a F&F settlement i would place in offers between 20-50%. And ensure all the required terms as expressed at national debtline are included.

As to stopping interest/charges, it is done as a good will gesture. There is no law or obligation for them to do it. There are template letters available but all you can do is keep your fingers crossed - http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/debt_advice.php#6

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

  • If you had a debt of 2,500 on a c/c that has now been passed on to another company, how much would you offer them as a F & F figure, as not sure how to negotiate this figure. many thanks.

I would start at £500 and see what they come back with.
