My husband...

...has taught himself to plaster and has spent this weekend plastering our hall due to the shock we got when we got a quote of £400 for said work.

Our wall is looking fab for the first time since we moved in (2 and a half years ago :o ) and it cost a fraction of what it could have been! Am very proud of him!

Well done sparkle! With all the money you've saved you and Mr Sparkle should go out and celebrate.....and get plastered!
  • We are decorating to sell our house and hubby been doing plastering himself too. Self taught as well and the walls were really bad, so I am proud of my hubby too. It probably would have cost us absolute fortune with our walls.

Not only that but he now may get jobs from family and friends as a result.

I cant get a mortgage due to some bad credit hiostory, so am doing the next best thing and moving to Ireland to self build on my grandads land in the middle of nowhere and whilst it wont be cheap already have bricklaying experience but am going on a plastering course for a week, refresher bricklaying and couple of other related courses and together with family who are plumbers/electricians gonna build my own.

Great thing is both courses carry a certicate which means I can get some extra work whilst here when the weather gets really bad back in Ireland so it will fund the house whilst being a useful tool and saving money.

    Big pat on the back.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
