    Usual rubbish, nobody in their right mind would want to be wearing one whilst standing on steps with no air con in Alicante airport waiting for over 20 minutes to board an aircraft.

    If it saved a decent amount of money and actually meant getting a cheap flight and still taking luggage then I do not see any reason why people will not wear one for a short time
    Once you are waiting to board I see no reason why you cannot take it off and hold it if you are warm.

    We have a really thin nylon rucksack with thin rope for the straps - free from a local museum. Wrapped up it takes little space. Pack this then you can use it to put the jacket in and carry it.

    A nylon stuffsack would also do a similar job.
