capital gains tax?? is the panic here??

Ive just been on holiday for a couple of weeks , what actually happened? there was loads of post's on here about landlords flapping and selling, having looked at the details it will only affect high tax bracket payers, so i dont think it will effect many landlords.

Whats the generals concensus on here and where are all these depserate btl landlord properties???

The issue is, what we have seen over the past 18 months was completely unsustainable built upon yet more borrowing, printing money, low IR's etc. As I have said for the past 18 months is that the ahem.... 'recovery' will come to an end after the election.

There have been what I consider to be some very bright 'bullish' posters on this forum, yet their failure to see what seemed to completely obvious as always had me puzzled. Reality I'm afraid, is here.

You can keep the recovery if it means we keep these low interest rates, things have never been so good as right now.

It'll likely affect most properties as I understand it if your income and the profit after deductions push you over the high tax band bracket then it's applicable to the 28%

    There is no panic however

    GG

they pay it if they decide to sell, thats why they were all saying landlords will panic and sell now to avoid paying 40 percent in future.

If they sell, they are not landlords.

I think you mean 'property speculators' will panic and sell now.
