Employer dropped my hourly rate

Hope you guys can give me some advice. For five years I was working 20 hours a week at a set hourly rate. Three years ago I got a rise of 20p extra an hour which I signed for as my new hourly rate.
In March I went full time and the wages department really messed my wages up, first they overpaid me an May, then they took it all back in June. It was then that I realised that my hourly rate had dropped by 20p. When I asked my boss about it he told me that he and my immediate boss had agreed it! No one thought to tell me about it and I certainly didnt agree it. Neither did I sign any new wages agreement.
My boss now agrees that he did the wrong thing and will change my wages when my immediate boss gets back from holiday. I now have a fight on my hands to get back what was mine all along. So far I have lost £81 due to this.
Can my boss do this? Is it a breach of contract?
thank you for your anticipated help.

For 20p an I would just let them sort it out and keep at them till they do.
But do not make a huge deal about it, currently jobs are scarce and the last thing you want to do is p1ss your boss off, I know 20p an hour will be alot to some people, but all I am saying is do not go overboard.0 -
It is probably an unlawful deduction of wages. But I strongly recommend that you try and resolve this peacefully and wait until the manager gets back. Taking legal action is not without risk (to your job) and neither is theratening to take legal action. See what they say when it is raised - then come back if it isn't resolved.0

Is it unlawful though? It came about when a new contract for full time started. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I certainly didnt intend on taking any legal action and i really do want to resolve this very peacfully. I was really just wondering if they could do this without telling me. I would rather take the drop and keep my job but as you can appreciated I was really miffed when I found out about it because no one had told me. If I had have been told I wouldnt have been happy about it but would still have accepted the drop.
