Hi Everyone
I had blonde highlights for 5 years and on Saturday I got my hair coloured by the hairdresser with a dark brown semi permanent dye to birng it back to my natural colour. I am going to stick to this colour, currently slightly darker than my natural colour.
My question is, now my hair is 'back to normal', can i dye it myself with semi permanents, say in a few weeks?
Will save 40quid every six weeks by not havign highlights!
Thank you in advance for any tips!

Yes i would say so, i have been doing that for years, you only really need the hairdresser if you are blonde as that is trickier to do yourself. Nice & easy are the best i would say and there is loads of colours. Usually get one two shades lighter than what colour you want to achieve as they generally go darker than what you would expect (this is what my hairdresser said!!) hope this helps xx0

Yes but you may get stripes so make sure the colour matches well when you do the roots- be aware that from what you have described, your natural colour is a little lighter yet the overdyed blonde parts (which are now darker as dyed) may well pick up colour and retain colour then the roots- this is what causes stripes.
If you notice this happening a wash-in-wash-out can be helpful and if it really gets to you then go back to a salon as a hair model- far cheaper! I get striping on my hair and tend to wear it up after a few months before visiting a salon (as a model!) every 4-6 months for them to even it out.0
