Looking for a good traditional restaurant in the Stranraer area, not fancy food, good plain old Scottish food, like a good bit of Angus beef.

Go to trip advisor, enter the town and then look for restaurant reviews OR just google the town and check out sites for info,

searched trip advisor and only 2 independant comments. Searched the net for over an hour and not a single comment about eating places in stranraer, they were all advertisments.

    trial and error, I suppose!

north west castle,we stayed here, isnt too great as a hotel, its very dated, but visit it for a meal, the food is excellent.
if the steak is as good as it was a few months back then i recommend this. we had the steak 2 nights in a row as it was so good. one of the best ive had in scotland. fiancee also agrees and we like ours cooked differently.

If you've got your own transport I would head out to Portpatrick, about 8 miles outside of Stranraer. It is a lovely little fishing village and has a good restaurant called Campbells and also some nice pubs that serve good food.
