Contribution Based JSA and Part time work?

Hi guys,

I have been claiming JSA for 9 weeks, and i attended an interview yesterday for a part time role at a local Wetherspoons pub. At the interview, i was advised that the hours were part time, but it was a zero hour contract, which i assume means it is on and an 'as and when needed' basis. I have a work trial with them on Saturday for 2 hours to ensure i like the job, and i am suited to the role.

Where would i stand with my JSA claim if i was to take the job after my work trial? As it is a zero hour contract?

Any advice would be massively appreciated!!

How many hours would you expect to work? If it would be fewer than 16 a week, you could still claim JSA.

As it is a ZERO hour contract, it can vary from week to week. from nothing to 16

As long as you work under 16 you will still get jobseekers. They will ask you upon each attendance (or on the phone) how many hours of work you did for the last two weeks and adjust your jobseekers accordingly to take account. If you worked over 16 for one of the weeks you will get no allowance for that week.

At least that was how it was explained to me.
