Full time vs Part time pay

Hi all!

I am wondering if someone can help me?

I work full time at the moment and get paid 25k a year, i bring home 1523 a month after 308 tax, 177, NI and 74 student loan are deducted.
I have recently found out i am pregnant and would like 6 months off work (this is going to take some hard core saving over the next few months!) and then ideally come back to work for 3 days a week. Is there a way of working out how much money i would bring home a month based on the above figures if i was only working 3 days a week?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Putting the current numbers into a tax calculator, ListenToTheTaxman, give a currently monthly salary, after tax & NI, of £1598. Subtract your student loan figure of £75 and that gives you your take home pay of £1523.

If you drop to 3 days a week there are probably a few ways the company can calculate your pro-rata salary. The simplest would be to take your current salary of £25k and divide it by 5 days a week and multiple by 3 days a week. So £15k, give or take.

£15k per annum would give you £1023 after tax and NI. Your student loan should drop to zero as you'd be below the threshold.

It'll depend *how* they work out the pro-rata but that should give you enough to plan from? £1523 for 5 days, about £1023 for 3 days.
