No where to turn

It's about time I stopped burying my head in the sand and faced up to what's been causing me so many sleepless nights - my debts.

Although to many of you, it may only seem a small amount but to me it's all I think about. It's ruining my life and I know i've only got myself to blame so it's about time I started facing facts and did something about it - so here I am.

I'm not sure where else to go, I visited CCCS last night, their option was to go for a DRO but after reading several forums on here I don't think it'll be the best option as my income isn't going to stay the same for the year.

So far, I owe LLoyds TSB about £5k in overdraft fees (charges upon charges etc), £2500 again to LLoyds for a loan I took out a couple of years ago, £1000 to two payday loan companies and £800 to friends and family.

This doesn't include this years Council Tax that I still have to pay and the debt that I owe for gas and electric, but those two I have set up an arrangement to pay over 2 years. I also owe £500 to orange and that is getting a tad on the nasty side.

After the chat with CCCS last night, I only have £9pcm spare to somehow pay Lloyds, payday loans and friends/family.

As I said, CCCS suggested the DRO but after the attatchment of earnings ends for last years council tax my earnings will go up by another £180pcm.

I'm really at a loss of what I'm going to do. My partner doesn't know any of this and I know everywhere says to tell him but unfortunately that's a no go area.

I really hope to get some help on how to tackle this and be debt free. I've never been good with money but I know I really have to form now on. No more excuses and no more burying my head in the sand.

I really hope someone can help

    Hi elfaerin and welcome :)

You've made the most important step and that's facing the fact that you have a problem. It's all downhill from here, believe me :)

Now, if you look at the top of the DFW forum you'll see a sticky for an 'SOA calculator', which is a statement of affairs. Fill that out and post it here and we'll see what we can offer as help.

Also, I know you don't think that telling your partner is possible, but if you're going to tackle your debts head-on and potentially enter into some sort of repayment or debt management plan it would be so much easier if you could. Think about it.

    Hang in there :)

Well done for posting here Elf. Can you post a SOA (Statement of Affairs) so we can see the type of debt you have. There may be an unenforceable route you can take depending on the type of debt. Never In Doubts' (NID) "Unenforcibility and Templates" excellent thread provides a wealth of information and step by step process to help determine how best to progress :j

Is that a typo?! Surely it's uphill from here.
