Checking my credit report

Just a quick question.
I have signed up to Equifax to have a look at my free credit report.
When i was looking at it, i noticed that my sisters details and all her credit agreements that she has had are showing on mine!
Will this affect me when i go to apply for anything as she has defaults etc where as mine is fine?
Thanks
Danielle

Yes
First I assume you have had no joint financial products with her ever?
Do you have similar names? same initials? same birthday (twins?)
If you are both Miss D [Smith] then this could be the cause of the confusion. You probably need to write to the credit reference agencies to explain the situation and may need to write to the creditors to get things corrected and ensure only your own accounts appear in your own names.
If you have middle names with different initials suggest you both try to ensure you always use them for financial issues.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I would guess that the CRAs might have some way specifically of dealing with twins (I'm guessing you can't be the first set of twins this has happened to).
Might be worth starting by sending them an email/online message which I believe you can do through their website to ask what the procedure would be.
Here https://equifaxuk.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/equifaxuk.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=YLz*_O3k&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=135&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0zMywzMyZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTE! (if the link works) you choose the ask a question option and then 'another person is on my report' and then choose 'credit agreement section'A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I agree wit Tixy, name and address matters, and they cant even fall onto date of birth to distinguish. I too would write to them rather than go down normal channels are this is an exception to normal circumstancesAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks both of you for your replies.
