Anyone got a recipe for chickpea daal? A friend had this once in a restaurant and it looked lush, but it seems to be the only chickpea recipe not on the MegaIndexed Thread
. Also, how would you serve it?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance!

Here is a really quick and easy dahl recipe
440g tin chickpeas inc. juices
knob of ginger, peeled and grated
1 fresh green chilli
clove garlic, crushed
juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp each of mustard seeds, turmeric, ground cumin, ground coriander
salt and pepper to taste
Put all ingredients into a saucepan. Mash the chickpeas up a bit. Bring to boil then simmer for about 10 mins until liquid is thickened and reduced.0 -
Here is a good recipe for chickpea dhal. If you have dried chickpeas, then soalk them overnight, bring to the boil in fresh water and the simmer for about 40 mins. I find that 1kg of dried chickpeas results in around 3kg of cooked.
Chop onion, garlic and ginger and chilli (seeds or not it's up to you!) and lightly fry in a pan, add some cumin seeds and cook for a few mins. Then add a tin of tomatoes and rinse the can out with a little water and add this to the pan too. Cook for about 20 mins. Then add the chickpeas and simmer until warmed through. If the sauce is too thick, add some boiling water or a little stock. Serve with rice or pitta bread.0
