Belfast International Airport has unveiled plans to charge £1 for anyone dropping off or picking up passengers from 7 July.

1. Just got it in in time for the 12th fortnight.
2. I'm thinking that hotel next door is going to get very busy. Can't say as I'll ever pay the pound.
3. Put on your full lights, beep your horn. Generally annoy the hell out of the pathetic thieving gits.
4. Somebody get the Facebook campaign going.
5. Bombard the website with nonsense emails.
6. Bombard the phones with silly questions.

"In its last published accounts, for the year ending December 2008, Belfast International Airport reported profits of over £10.5m"

I wouldn't mind but their excuse for doing it is to deter terrorist attacks like the one in Scotland a few years ago. Right, so would a would-be car-bomber really change his mind if he was asked for £1?:rotfl:

Apparently it's within "government guidelines". It sounds to me like someone spotted an opportunity to make a load of money - it's "only a pound" but judging by the traffic when I go there at a very rough guestimate there're about 10 drop offs or pick ups per minute...so £600 per hour. It really would make you sick.

This is certainly pathetic. Who in their right mind is going to pay a £1? ...What happens if you come out of the house without your wallet?

A Facebook page has been set up by a friend of mine, so feel free to swell the numbers as there's only 4 of us on there so far!

im going on that facebook page asap!

it is a disgrace that they are trying to get even more money out of us! i have a feeling there will be a lot more cars either driving round and stopping near the hotel and people walking to the doors, or a lot more people pulled into the hard shoulder to let people out there and walk to the airport.

I'll certainly be joining the Facebook campaign against this. To be honest, I don't think it will happen in Belfast.

BBC has already reported that people will be too smart for this and park away from the airport to collect people which will just lead to high volumes of traffic congesting the surrounding roads round the Airport.

    Bloody nightmare!
