At my local TESCO (Cheetham Hill- Manchester) it seems they're about to revamp the tea/coffee aisle and so are discontinuing lots of products.
This means loads of good price cuts :T. Today yorkshire teabags, cadburys highlights hot choc, clipper fairtrade tea, 4 different types of fairtrade coffee, nescafe gold blend decaf etc to name just a few were all at least half price.
There were LOADS of seriously reduced items including instant coffees/ground coffees/ various hot chocs/ coffee whitener/ teabags/ herbal tea.
I bought CLIPPER fairtrade chamomile teabags 48p, big jar cafedirect organic coffee £2.50 (reduced from £5.99) and coffeemate light 46p.
Don't know if this is national but definitely worth checking!

i hate it when tesco do things like that!i can assure you these were proper reductions though, like yorkshire teabags (80s) were under £1.i've seen what you speak of many a time before though!0 -
I picked up some tescos own boxes of cappiccino reduced to 59p. that was in truro, so looks like its national.they had baked beans with meatballs for I think it was 27p and tilda long grain rice 50p bread flour 50p there was a lot more but thats all I was intrested in, so its worth a walk round your local T's to see what they've got.Live for today, for tomorrow is promised to no-one.
never complain about growing old,far too many people have been denied that privilege.0 -
Don't mean to hijack the thread but for those in other areas of the UK who like a good cup of tea and don't want to spend on the Gold or whatever range, try Tetley One Cup in the blue box at Wilkinsons - 97p currently for 88 bags.
For those who maybe are a bit rusty at how to get the best out of a teabag and have got into bad habits, well your tea won't taste as nice! So here's a quick how to:-
1. Keep the teabags in an airtight container to keep freshness (and the oils that make the flavour) in the leaves.
2. Do a dynamic risk assessment ;o) - then remove a teabag and place in a clean cup (that means no old coffee or tea stains which interfere with the brewing and eventual flavour)
3. Add boiling water carefully to the cup stirring a few times immediately afterwards to get the brewing process going. If this is black tea such as One Cup it must be boiling water, not just off the boil. If green tea, do not use boiling water
4. Now leave to brew for at least 3 mins and preferably 5 if you want the proper flavour of tea
5. Adding skimmed milk will negatively affect the flavour. I use a sparing amount of full fat milk and I get the flavour I like. I personally think skimmed milk makes even the best tea much less appealing flavour-wise
If you can tolerate green tea, it's supposed to be pretty good stuff. Personally, I hate it.Escaped from Barnet to freedom in the South-East!0 -
Bush tea makes a nice alternative as well. Drink as you would normal black tea. i add milk and sugar although true afficionadas wouldn't. Caffeine free, full of anti oxidants and cheap in tesco at the moment.0
