dry sherry substitute for stir fry beef & noodles

Does anyone know what i can substitute dry sherry with for stri fry beef and noodles?

    I thought the sherry usually IS a substitute, for if you don't want to or can't get sake/rice wine. If you've neither and don't want to buy, you could probably just leave it out. Or maybe someone could suggest alternatives if we can have a look at what the recipe involves?

    got rice wine - knew i bought it for something ages ago so will use that - thanks
    recipe
    sesame beef stir fry
    450g sirloin steak cut into strips (ive just got stir fry beef)
    2tbsp reduced salt soy sauce
    4tbsp dry sherry
    1 garlic clove finely chopped
    2.5cm fresh ginger peeled and grated
    2tbsp sunflower oil
    200g sugar snap peas
    150g chestnut mushrooms, halved
    1 bunch spring onions, sliced
    1tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
    egg noodles to serve

    mix soy, sherry, garlic, ginger and mix with steak and leave to marinade approx 20mins
    heat sunflower oil, add sugar sanp peas and mushrooms - stir fry 3-4 mins then remove veg
    stir fry beef 2-3 mins then return veg along with any marinade left add spring onions, stir fry 1 min
    scatter with sesame seeds and serve with egg noodles

    got rice wine vinegar? would that be ok?

    I've used vodka before now for beef stirfry. It helps tenderise the meat and the alcohol burns off and it does not leave a flavour.

    The vinegar will leave a powerful taste in the meat.

    If your beef is tender then just skip it. You can add some water to the cooking process instead.
