Disposable razors or replacement blades?

Hi all :)

I was just wondering what sort of razor you ladies use. I used to use my husbands disposables; use once then throw away. But as I only do my under-arms and half leg I thought maybe a 'proper' razor would be better as I would get a few uses out of the blades. I got the razor on offer at £2.65, but the blades are £6.44 for 4.

So my question is - how many times do you use the blade before you
replace, and do you think it is more economical than disposables?

I use disposables now because I think they are cheaper, but they might not last as long. I use them more than once, but then i might just do armpits for a couple of days and use the same one, but If i did full legs with one i would throw it away. best ones I've found are the bic three blade ones..bout £1.99 for 4 aswell! they don't have much lubrication so need shave gel with it, although sometimes i don't bother and it draggs!! you get a close shave with them i think tho!

used to have a mach 3 but the blades were so expensive, was often cheaper to buy the razor new with extra blades than just buy the blades!

to be honest i'm getting sick of shaving and looking into getting an epilator, they're quite expensive but i reckon it'll be cheaper than shaving in the long run!

I switched from replaceable blades to disposable razors and it's definately kept the cost down. I've got very dark hair so I'm guessing it's somewhat thicker than blonde hairs but I find I can use a disposable razor about 4 times before it needs replacing (so around 8 uses althogether of doing both legs and underarms).

I tend to buy disposables from the supermarket (own brand) or tesco have often had obscure brands on offer, 2 packs of 16 for the price of one and they've lasted ages. It's much cheaper than the Mach 3 blades I used to buy.

If you do opt for replaceable blades I'd reccommend looking at the mens razors. I opted for a mach 3 for that reason as the blades were cheaper than womens ones and do exaclty the same job!

I've definitely found that the disposable ones are cheaper, and that I get about the same use from them as a replaceable blade - used to have one of the venus razors, but didn't find that i got any more use from the blades, so have switched to the tesco own brand cheap ones, whcih come in packs of 8 i think, in pastel type colours, and are little more than £1 i think..

I`m using an 8 year old gillette razor with replacement blades.

I use the supermarket own brand replacement double blades from Morrisons which are usually around the £2 mark for seven blades which last me ages.

I would like to but a spare razor as these days they all seem to have weird fittings and i think that may have been done by the big name brands to lower the sales of the supermarket replacements.

If anyone knows of a brand of fellas razor with the little button on the back that releases the blade and has the arms that lock inwards then please let me know as i`ll run out and buy a couple.

I only shave armpits and half leg but if find that this is the cheapest option for me, i think that the double blades last longer.

  • I usually buy replaceable blades razors but the last one I bought (Tesco own make) was rubbish.

This time I've bought the Wilkinson Sword Quattro (4 blades) disposables because they were half-price in Mr. T. (less than £2.50 for 3) as I've always found that make gives a good close shave (under the pits & half legs). I was definitely intending using them more than once, like PinkPeach probably 3 or 4 times each I'm hoping for.

Btw, Mr. T had other WS razors half-price as well, including the replaceable blades ones. Could have been for men as well??

You lucky women that can get away with only doing half a leg, I'd look like a coconut mat if I did that
