Sell my endowment...or not?

Looking to fund some house renovations and I would like to cash in/sell an endowment.
I have spoken to my Insurance company - Phoenix, who have told me the current value should I surrender it. It still has 6.5 years to run.
Would you be able to give me a bit of advice of whether it's more wise to just cash it in with Phoeneix or to sell them to another company and what companies to try/avoid?
