So I'm in the Netherlands-home of many great ironies and facades. As time's gone on and I've seen stuff in the news and what not; things like a teacher is no longer allowed to teach, because he's gay all of a sudden; or the legal drugs situation where the majority of users are foreigners of some sort; or the fabulously world beating health system where you are pushed around like a pea on a plate and only seen to when you're cold and withered- and the doctors believe the body will heal it's self in most instances so send you home to take your own paracetamol after you've been paying a fortune in health insurance. If you don't believe that last one, you might find it on Google it's so prevalent.
Considering what I thought was NL's stance on equality (I attended a year long integration course
and there was an emphasis on equality and 'sameness'), I received a nasty shock just recently with their idea of equality at work. I am an agency worker working for a worldwide company. They started a new department and myself and other agency workers and other non-agency workers worked there for some time. Later they hired more agency workers from an agency they had never used before and this agency is paying their employees more than the rest of us. Apparently this is legal and it's up to me to battle it out with my agent (who is not answering phone or email) or put up with being worth less than my colleagues. This is my second day off and it's really got to me but nobody else seems bothered. At least the weather is nice. The boss for who I work, called this morning, asking. I told him I was trying to get hold of the agency , but he said again that it's nothing to do with him and that he hopes I get it sorted with the agency. I told the boss I was on strike  until the agency had negotiated something.
Do you think it's fine to have one agency paying their workers more than the other agency workers ? And would you expect those affected be peachy about it? Am I being unreasonable?
Have just received an email from the agency which is only a wage slip. Time's ticking on too, nearly 3pm.

its up to you to negotiate with your agency over the wage they pay you
the employer is paying the agency their contracted fee
your issues with the rate of pay and agency are no concern of the employer0 -
Yes, I am trying to get the agency. The phone diverts to voicemail and a reply to my email would be nice.
It's really about the different rates going on in the same place. Who's responsible for that?
I doesn't seem right to me.more dollar$ than sense0 -
Can you change agencies and keep the job?
I did that once, I was in a job at £X and a new agency asked me if I could get the contract moved to them with the client paying the same rate and me getting more because the new agency were only taking £1/hour. I did it, so got paid more while in the same job.
There was nothing Agency1 could do about it either. My boss felt it only fair that I should get more money while he paid the same, so cancelled the contract he had and rebooked me through the new agency.0 -

That's what I mentioned earlier to my colleagues and was told that they would have to advertise the vacancy first before the new agency could go for it, iykwim. I don't know how true that is. The thing is, I am registered at the other agency. I applied for another job with them yesterday on the internet.more dollar$ than sense0 -
I've just emailed the other agency asking if they can take over the contract.more dollar$ than sense0

My agency has called me back. She said it's a set rate for that job, asked what I thought was the problem, and asked how nice was it working there with the people. I said I cannot work happily under that condition. She wanted to know what I was going to do next. I called the other agency cause I couldn't wait for their email either and they said their rate of pay was a misprint on their site and these new people are going to get the same as me. The irony & facade continues.
My little break in the sun is coming to an end.
back to work tomorrow.

So you were happy at the rate of pay until you found out that people hired by the company get more. Presumably if you are agency then they can just get rid of you?The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

No. The other agency workers getting more than me and my other agency worker colleagues. Anyway, it was an illusion.more dollar$ than sense0 -
