basically the business (pub/restaurant) i work for as the air con in the kitchen has gone down. The fix it men have had to shut off all systems as its too dangerous to work in. what will happen regarding the staff's wages? will we still get paid as technically we are still available to work its just that the place isnt open for business. The boss rang staff yesterday and told them not come in, we not sure how long its gonna be shut for ...

If they are your contracted hours then I would say yes, if they are overtime and not contractual then maybe not.
It is not your fault the business cannot open but if it goes on for a while the boss could make you take holiday after the statutory notice period which I believe is 1 weekThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
