  • If you were self employed, you would be a business owner, so I am not clear about what you mean. Surely people work for themselves if they themselves have an idea or experience they could put to use?

Are you talking about working as a contractor?

Not sure what advice you're after tbh.

Then you wouldn't be self employed. You would be employed by the company.

Fang is right - if you were employed by a company then you wouldnt be self employed you would be an employee. Self employment means that you pay your own tax, NI, you can work for more then one company at a time, you get no holiday pay or sick pay and can end up working more hours than if you were an employee. I am self employed and regularly work a 60-70 hour week - I don't want to do those hours but if I want to be paid then I have to.

With self employment you have to have commitment and more importantly be passionate about what you do, if you're not passionate then that shows to potential clients.
