Hi!

I hope I have posted this in the right place :)

My name is Charley and I am in about £8k worth of debt. I feel rubbish for posting this as I have been reading through posts and some people are in alot worse situations but I could really do with some advice.

I have been living with these debts for a while. The usual story, too scared to open mail etc. But I have made the decision that I cannot live my life like this anymore. My dad had a similar probelm with debt and I will not turn out like him :)

So any advice on how to get a grip would be fantastic. I was looking for a guide on what to post as my first post but couldn't see anything so if I have gone about this all wrong, I am sorry and hopefullly someone will point the way to me :)

Much love!

    Hi Charley

    Check out this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/107280

where you'll find a link to a statement of affairs (SOA) calculator. Fill it out, hit the format for MSE button and paste it into a reply in this thread. You'll need to delete the web link at the bottom as you're a newbie. People will then be able to see your situation and advise you as to the best thing to do. Make sure to include the APRs for all debts.

You can do an soa showing what your income is and what your outgoings are and people can then make helpful suggestions as to where it doesn't balance if it doesn't.

With me the budget balances fine but somehow money disappears, so a spending diary suits me best, to write down everything I spend and see whare the danger areas are.

Hi Red, well done for posting mate. You'll get some quality advice here.
  • Thank you, gues :)

Pee...I think I am in a similar thing. Every week I budget myself and feel very smug and then the money disappears and I have no idea where. I think I have a money eating gremlin liviing in my bank account :)

  • Okay, I've just checked my credit report and it's totally blank. Last month I had about 6 entries for people I owe money to. What's happened?
