Can someone please explain to me in plain English
when I would question this in replying to a county court claim? What does it mean?
Thanks in advance

It means that the county court has the authority to administer the law/justice for this particular issue and in the place you live.
So if this is debt issue then it means the county court is the place that deals with court cases in relation to the collection of debts in England & Wales.
Does that help/make sense?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I think so
SO it is a debt issue both me and the creditor are based in Wales so the county court in Northampton does have jurisdiction?
Thanks your a star dont know what I would do without this place sometimes"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Yes
It could be heard at any county court in England or Wales. Northampton is just the default bulk processing court. Depending on your situation and if you wanted to attend the hearing yourself (if you disagree with the claim) then you can ask for it to be held at your nearest court instead (not totally sure how you do this but if you want to someone else will know and explain I'm sure)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Northampton is the Bulk processing centre for CCJs in England and Wales.
Unless you reply to the claim, it will be processed and automatically awarded in favour of the creditor. If you choose to defend then the claim will be passed to your local county court.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

awww thanks for the replies guy's
I am just doing the acknowledgemnt of service online as I do intend to defend part of the claim so will it then be automatically transferred to my local court or do I have to request that?
I am hoping to sort it out with the creditor within the extra 14 days but just in case..........
Thanks again"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
OK that was a bit confusing......
Just responded to the claim online at moneyclaim.gov.uk, I responded using the acknowledgement of service clicked I would be defending part of the claim then clicked next and it took me back to the first page, I can see at the bottom of the page that it says the claim number and then the creditor then latest document acknowledgement......
Does this mean they have got that and I now have the extra 14 days? ALso the claim was issued 14th Jun they say that the 14 days begine 5 days after the issue date so the initial 14 days would expire 3rd July so do I now have till 17th July to get my defence in?
Also can I still use the online servise by clicking the start defence button?
Thanks for your time and advice I do appreciate it"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0
