Curves / Ladyzone

Anyone tried either/both of these? Really not sure which one would be best but I really need to tone up and like the idea of these 30 minute workouts.

I would be grateful for any reviews. :D

Did you do a forum search? (top right hand corner) someone did ask this a few months ago, could be of some use to you.

I have seen that Curves is advertising a 6 week membership for £39 which I am thinking about trying, I think it would be a good way to see if it is worth it or not!

I just joined Curves three weeks ago. The good thing about it is that if it doesn't suit you you can always just cancel your membership unlike a lot of gyms. My local Curves is run by really nice people and its fairly friendly and non-competitive. I personally hate going because I hate the gym :D but I think it is worth the £30 a month if you're out of shape. I think if a hardcore exerciser joined they would be disappointed by it, but for your average person starting out its very helpful methinks. The machines are effective, some of them are downright brutal (squat machine and chest press...ouch) but because you only sprint on each machine for a short period its bearable. I am not sure if you'd still get the benefits of it after a year or so but for starting out with getting fit I've found it really great. The fact that they weigh you and keep tabs on you is quite motivating I find.
  • I'm not exactly a hardcore exerciser - I've done a couple of half marathons a few years ago and have been relatively fit but somehow never been toned and that's what I want right now. The ladyzone near me seems good but you have to sign up for a year. I think I'll go and visit curves as well and see what they're like.

Probably ideal then as it does seem to concentrate on strength training. Good luck!
  • Just as an update, I have decided to join ladyzone. I went to both and had trial sessions and the people at ladyzone were so much more professional and friendly. Also, the atmosphere was nicer as there wasn't booming music and an american voice telling you to move every 30 seconds (which there was at curves).

I don't believe there are many ladyzone's around though, so I think if I hadn't had the option I would definitely join curves as I think both systems will work well.
