How do I use vouchers?

I have been really impressed seeing how people have accumulated Tesco points and reduced their bills by using vouchers but I am a bit unsure of how to best collect points and reduce my bill. Can I use coupons for any shop at Tesco? How do the instore vouchers work and how can I find online codes which are current when doing my shopping? I would be really grateful for any advice as I need to cut back on my grocery spending and I would love to accumulate more points.

Hi, welcome to MSE!
There are several different parts to your post.
Tesco Clubcard points can be accumulated faster by using every opportunity to use extra points vouchers. If you get any 'till-spit' extra points offers (the extra bits churned out at the till after your receipt, usually at the start of a week) don't stuff them in your bag with your receipt. Keep a separate purse or envelope for these (and your coupons) and look to buy the item on them next time you shop. Here's an ongoing thread I started about till-spits:

I keep extra points coupons/till-spits next to my Clubcard in my pocket so that I see them when I go to get my Clubcard out. If your relatives also shop at Tesco ask them if they have any till-spits they don't want to keep them for you. Also if they have been sent any extra-points offers recently with their Clubcard Vouchers, are they going to use them all - if not you can use them even though they have a surname on. They will scan with anyone's Clubcard. You can also buy other people's coupons on eBay.
You can also 'womble' - pick up receipts with a barcode on if you see them in trolleys or in the carpark, wait a few days and ask CS to add 'your' points on to your card (as you forgot it last time!). Only bother with worthwhile amounts though (maybe 15 points or more) or Head Office may notice loads of small manual adjustments and send you a letter (they sent one to me but I still got my vouchers).
As for using money-off coupons, there are loads of threads, just search for 'coupon', 'coupons' or 'Tesco' and have a read of previous discussions. If unsure, ask at the CS desk what their policy is re using manufacturers' coupons when you haven't bought the product. Personally I find a friendly cashier and ask nicely if they can scan some coupons please (they do!).
There is a whole thread on Tesco Codes here:

But I don't shop online, I like to get loads of points instore!

I do know tescos take sainsburys vouchers just the ones which state £5 off £25 of shopping instore.
There is a notice about this in my local tesco0 -
Yes, as surfsister says, Tesco will always take the '£2 off £20 spend' type vouchers that Sainsburys send out every so often. You should not have a problem with these (although I have never tried them in a small Tesco Express store - don't use them as the prices can be higher there).
BUT it's worth knowing that coupons from Asda, Somerfield and Sainsbury's magazines all scan on Tesco tills. I use some occasionally but not often as I don't want to cause problems for the cashier, after all Tesco cannot get the money back on these (unlike manufacturers' coupons). I only slip one in with a handful of other money-off coupons if I know the cashier is one who will scan all of them without comment.
I wouldn't go in with loads of Somerfield ones and expect to get them scanned every time, nor would I try them on the self-scan (if you use it), as you can end up rushing & looking flustered....then you can be sure the Supervisor will come and check your coupon-use!
Best advice is to stick with young male cashiers in a large store that is OK about coupon-use, and keep a permanent stash (in your car or bag, not in a kitchen drawer at home) of good 'money-offs' that Tesco can redeem.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
