Organic box scheme recommendations

Options
Hi,

I've been using Abel & Cole's box delivery for some years now, and have been fairly happy with them.

Was just thinking about whether to try out some other companies as well, to get a comparison of quality & value for money. At the mo I get their mixed fruit & veg box at £14.80.

Any recommendations? Was thinking about Riverford.

I quite like Abel & Cole's ability to say you dislike something, so you dont get that item in your box. Do other's have that as well?

Cheers,
Dutchie.

  • I use RiverNene but think it depends on where you live? They do a mixed box for £13.50.

I've not used them yet, but Goodnessdirect have some good deals on this month, so maybe the time to try them out.

They do fruit, veg, meat and pretty much anything else you can think of.

I use Everybody organic - £9.45 for family fruit box. You can have exclusions and can change them to keep track of the season. On the whole very pleased

  • hi, I do veg boxes for 5 friends when I have gluts - can't manage more than that. Just realised they get a bargain!!!!!!! (not that I do it for profit - just cover costs a bit)

I use rivernene and they are excellent, fresh, long-lasting, tasty and good value :)
There were rumours about goodness foods, whan I was a student, that they are owned by the jesus army, and have people working there for no wage whatsoever, but clearly it was just all rumours...;)

I use two schemes - Farmaround and The Organic Delivery Co. I am based in London.

Both are good for different reasons... Farmaround stock the cleaning products I use but often mess up my order and have stuff missing but their customer service is good and I have had lots of freebies as a result, Organic Del Co. fresh food seems fresher and their general groceries are cheaper and more wide ranging. I flit between the two.

We've been using Riverford for a few months now, and have been completely won over. We've never had a duff piece of fruit or veg yet, and most of it comes pretty clean, so you don't have to start washing it all for hours before you want to use it!

They have a choice of boxes, ranging from £7.50 to about £13, and then you can buy any number of additional items to go with your box.

We love Riverford, and definitely recommend them.:)

I agree with the Riverford recommendations, great value - although we run out of spuds very quickly, apart from that it does us fine - great quality and some interesting veg sometimes.
Anyone know how to get rid of artichoke and kohl rabbi? horrible stuff.

Kohl Rabi is nice when greated on salads. What type of artichoke is it? Globe artichokes are tasty!!!!
