credit rating- how long am I screwed for?

I have defaulted on a halifax credit card, the amount I owed was about 2500, I am paying this off in a dull and final settlement next month! It got passed to their in-house debt collection agency.

I defaulted on a capital one credit card- I owed 250. I have paid this to Capital One. It got passed to something called debitas? But i paid capital one.

I defaulted on some overdue library fees. I negotiated with them by giving the books back and paying a £50 fee. The original fee was £750.

I'm worried there may be a few other bits and bobs and I am getting my credit report shortly so I can sort these too.

I hope to be debt free by the end of this year. Purely ebcause of some very good luck with money I've had recently.

I'm ecstatic that I'm going to be debt free. But how long do you think I will be affected? I know defaults stay on your file for 6 years. I presume this will affect me getting a morgage? Me and my boyfriend will hopefully be buying a house in a few years I'm petrified I will have let him down and we will be turned down for a one.

Do mortgages ever except garantours?

God I was such a knob, I just want to get better now.
