Cashplus won't take our cash

My OH has a cash plus card to build up some sort of credit rating due to never having any before. In february her standing order with them stopped and it meant she failed to make two payments on time. She accepts this was her mistake and once cashplus told her the money had not been paid she topped up the amount straight away.
Cashplus took 1 of the two payments but not the second. They then continued to take the following months payments as normal. My oh noticed their mistake and has since rang 3 times to get them to take the payment but they won't even though the money is there.
The 12 months have now passed and she is wanting to cancel the card but is unable to because all payments have as yet not been made (this 1 missing payment), so we have decided to write to the company. Is there a time limit we can request the payment be taken in ? We have requested in the letter that the account is closed once the payment is taken as well. They state this will take 30 days to happen.
Thanks,

I have never heard of Cashplus, but is it a particular concern that they are 1 month late?
Have you checked your credit files to see if it has been adversely affected? If so, since it was their mistake they must remove it.
By the way, standing order just sends money to an account, i fail to see how it was not accepted? If it was a direct debit i could understand more as they take the money instead of you sending it.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Cash Plus have been recommended by Martin on his site for people with no credit history. They are in there most basic sense a top up card. However you can also use them as a credit builder in you pay them £5 a month to pay off a debt if you like. You don't actually get the money but they don't do a credit check and when the 12 months is over it gets put on your credit file that you have done this so you can start building up proper credit.
The problem is it's not that the payment is 1 month late. OH owed Feb and March. They take the money off your card you can't pay them another way. So in April when they told her she put 3 payments worth on the card. They took the April pay and took Feb but didn't take March. OH told them and they said they would take it. They didn't and then she got another email in May saying she had failed to make another payment. She told them again the money is there and again they said they would take it and again they didn't same again this month, they said they would take the money on Monday and they didnt hence the later.
My OH set up a direct debit as the company were difficult to understand on the phone and didn't seem to understand that she wanted a direct debit set up. So OH set it up for 12 months however they didn't start taking payments until 2 month after this start date hence the SO running out after 12 months and the payments not been taken.
The account has to also be empty and all debts cleared before you can close the account. Until then they keep taking £5 a month.0 -
Are there any adverse affects from them not taking the £5 for the one month?
Basically they have missed the march payment and not collected it, they say they will but keep failing to take it. They must have an official complaints procedure, have you written them a letter?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
