Student Nurse voluntary training

Ok
That makes it clearer. Your course does not require voluntary work. They are however telling you that without some vocational experience you are unlikely to be able to find a job or proceed afterwards.
Fair enough.
They will also give you a 2 week formal placement.
My advice would be too look for some work as a sessional support worker. This will count and be paid. Probably more vocational than a hospital voluntary position as well as hospitals won't let you near the patients from a treatment/care related angle.
You could try joining the NHS bank for healthcare assistants too, you just take whatever shifts are available and fit in with your studies. Some trusts will let you on the bank with no experience and give you a bit of training.
Hospital volunteers generally start out doing practical tasks such as helping visitors find their way around, and work up to more care related work such as assisting patients who need help to eat. There are often waiting lists though so its a lengthy process.0
