Santander ex cahoot Loan mess up by them - advice please
Options
I have a loan with Cahoot that was transferred over to Santander earlier this year. The payment normally goes out 24th or 25th. This morning i was a bit concerned cause it hadnt gone out and we are on 28th so i rang their customer serice centre who told me it is probably just an admin error and it would take a few days to show on my bank account. This evening i came home to find a letter dated 24th June from their collections department saying my payment has been missed and to contact them (none of this had been mentioned to me from customer services that morning). I rang this evening and spoke to someone there who told me that even though their admin error (i hadnt cancelled the dd or anything, they had not bothered to claim it) and they had not tried to claim my dd (the money was there) that because it was 4 days later now, this would affect my credit rating! He then said to me that they could put it right but it "may take a while" as they would need to write to them! I paid the loan payment there and then with my card over the phone and was assured (Huh!) they wouldnt try and get it again. I am really worried now and have been hystercally crying this evening because this means that my credit rating has been affected and this was NOT MY FAULT. As soon as i realised that THEY had not claimed the dd, i brought it to THEIR attention. I couldnt have done any more. I am frightened what this may mean now because although i always pay things on time, i do have quite afew loans/credit cards and i am scared something may be withdrawn from me that i cant afford to pay back in one chunk because of their error. I have asked them for a written response and they have said they will write but it may take a couple of weeks! Any advice welcome. I have got all the times/people i spoke to etc written down for my records.

dolly,
really not worth crying over.
Write them a letter of complaint. Get a copy of your credit report in a few weeks time and if any kind of late payment is loggest against you kick up a fuss.
Much easier to keep everything in writing. A paper trail for you and less emotional than speaking to a call centre.
Good luck.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
