My first true DFW food shopping visit

It's finally sinking in... my bill this morning came to £40-57- this is for a week's worth of shopping for 2 greedy adults. I know there are people on here who do an awful lot better than that but for me it's an excellent step forward- I used to spend £80-90 every week.
We haven't missed out on anything this week and the fridge and cupboards are full. There was no junk food except Herta frankfurters as treat for hubby (BOGOF of course) and some Dairy Milk desserts because we're not completely perfect

Well Done Mrs Sparkle :j
Food bill is something I'm still fine-tuning. When I do get mine to around £40, I find that I run out of things and have to shop again which is defeating the object.
I know I need to get into meal planning in a better way but it's taking me a while to get used to it.
Keep up the good work0 -
Your bill is similar to mine. I used to think nothing of spending £70 -£80 a week for the two of us. I usually manage to keep it around the £40 - £45 mark now, and that includes my packed lunches for the week. I can't seem to get it much lower though, partly due to a squeamish OH who won't eat Offal or anything too 'Healthy' (pulses etc). He's also very fussy about brands - only Kelloggs for my man , but we're getting there. (I know some OS ers do an awful lot better than this and I take my hat off to them)
To be fair, Hubby has no debts, and he does pay the grocery bill so I shouldn't grumble. He is working very hard to reduce the mortgage too.
I notice you are in London too, where things are very dear in comparison to here, so well done to you!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Newleaf I know exactly what you mean. My hubby feels deprived if he doesn't get meat, meat and more meat whereas I could easily go without altogether. Lentils and chopped tomatoes have to be hidden in different dishes but I'm getting good at that *evil grin*Debt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24
