two weeks worth of meal ideas please

Right we are off shopping later and I need some help on our meal planning as we always seem to buy the same stuff.

I need ideas for 14 dinners which are, 1. healthy (ish) and 2. not going to cost us a bomb.

Our tesco budget for the two weeks is £70 for 2 of us which will include toiletries and other non food items etc

Cheers for any help

Ooh, I bookmarked something on MSE a while back that might prove useful to you! Black-Saturn posted a month's shopping list (total cost an incredible £45 for three people) followed by a complete week's menu planner using food from that list. Let me rummage out the links...

    Here we go.

I was cut out to be rich, but got sewn up wrong.
  • If all else fails, noodles or better still a big hot pot of Irish Stew but being Irish I would say that.
  • Shepherds pie
    Spaghetti bolognaise
    Chilli con carne
Sausages, peppers, onions in pitta breads
    Home made bread
Vegetable and potato curry with rice (use red lentils to bulk)
    sausage, vegetables and pasta
Home made burgers in rolls, with HM potato wedges
    Liver and mash
    sausage and mash
Liver, kidney chips and gravy (homemade chips of course!!)
Vegetable and lentil soup with HM bread
chicken casserole (use thighs or legs)
Chicken with pasta with mixed vegetables and tomatoes
    Frittata with salad

I buy carrots and blitz them and add them bolognaise/shepherds pie etc to bulk out a smaller amount of mince.

Use value tinned tomatoes to make a pasta sauce -cook onions, peppers mushrooms with tin of tomatoes and garlic/dried herbs (adapt to your own taste)

    HTH a bit.
  • Have just checked out Black-saturn link...WOW! how useful is that!

  • When we have a bad month we live on tins of beans, ravioli and spagetti - with a dollop of sauce in them the value ones are ok and the kids don't notice the difference!!

I also make huge quantities of chilli con carne, lasagne, spag bol and vehetable soup and bung it all in the freezer xx
    GOOD LUCK!
