Jobseekers Unite

Where do you look for work? I spend every day trawling through the same jobsites and refreshing every 30 minutes or so to see if there's anything new up there.

But there must be other places to look. Perhaps we could help each other out by suggesting new places to look for any advertised jobs?

My current regular ones are:

Guardian site
Local council
Reed Agency
Jobsmine
Job centre website
And a few one's specific to the work I used to do...and may be lucky enough to do again one day.

Anybody else got any suggestions where we can look?

I've spent some time this morning ringing around lots of agencies, only to be told to just look online because everything's on there - is that typical? I'd hoped they'd let you go in for a quick chat, but it seems they aren't too keen on that.

I know how you feel, I feel like I have wasted soo much time today, looking for jobs online.

I look on the job centre plus website, a couple of agencies and local newspapers, NHS website.

    Good luck.

One of the problems is that agencies post jobs on multiple websites, eg: fish4jobs, monster, CV Library etc. So you get loads of results come up, only to find they're all advertising the same job

indeed.co.uk is one of the better ones I've found.

Works well. In the recessions of the 80's and 90's, I walked up and down the local industrial estates knocking on doors.

Make sure your cv is on jobsite, total jobs, monster, cv library, reed etc, updated regularly, tagged with key words and is viewable by employers. Every interview I've had so far has been via an agency or an employer contacting me because they have found my cv online somewhere. (Mind you I did just have an agency calling me about a vacancy paying £5.50 an hour. :rotfl:)
