Post Office mortgage application

Hi all
Looks like we'll be going for the Post Office for our mortgage, which means direct application.
On the phone, they told me it would be quicker to make the application online. Someone I spoke to was sceptical of this, so I wondered if anyone here had made an application with the PO recently either online OR over the phone and whether it all happened in reasonable time. If you did apply online, did an actual human being contact you quickly enough for your needs?
Many thanks
HH.

There has been a few of these querys in the last 2 weeks.
Once you have filled out the application online it takes less than 2minutes to get the Approval in Principle. (as long as your credits reports clean and you match what they need etc - the post offices lending criteria is listed here : http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/content2?catId=86700737&mediaId=102800766 )
Once you have your Approval you are invited to complete a formal application, this is where figures and property details are needed.
Once this is done you will have a credit search done and an approval should take a minute or 2 to come about - about 3-4 days later you should have the forms in the post asking for proof of income etc.
Cheers

That sounds pretty efficient then, thank you! And sorry about missing the other threads.

Don't worry about it - I came here at first looking for help as well

Would have thought doing it online was easier as well, you can save it as you go along and probably easier than telling someone on the phone who no doubt will have to send you a paper copy to verify the information was correct.
I went from applying online to mortgage offer in 8 days applying online with the PO. They are super quick and I imagine they don't have all that much to do in the current climate

Suppose the speed depends a lot on yourself as well, I was able due to living near the late collection postbox to get the information ready for them and send it back the day I received it.
Have three months pay statements ready to send, as they will ask for them I'm sure (everyone else has been)

I applied late last night and they have instructed valuation and taken valuation fee already. They have also called to let me know they have posted out forms requesting proof of earnings which ill hopefully receive tomorrow. So far so good!0

Nothing too surprising but there is a hell of a lot of rules and regs...hard to take it all in with the first read!Plan

Seem to be a lot of Post Office mortgage applications from forum users here. Interesting.
On a 10% deposit, nobody else comes close to matching their rates. A whole of market MA couldn't get within 1% of the 2 year fix of 5.39% I was offered.
I imagine they are competitive at other rates as well, my brother has just applied with them as well as they would save a lot (there mortgage is bigger than mine)
I started a thread on the good service I received because when i was looking for a mortgage there was no real feedback at all on how good a mortgage provider is
