Agh I'm paying off my debt!

So I've got some halifax credit card debt, it's not too old, 6 months or so. But it was £2000 plus interest etc. Today I logged into my halifax current account and they'd taken £451 out! When I rung up it was taken by collection agency called Blair, Oliver & Scott. So I spoke to them and agreed that when I get paid on the 25th July I would pay the rest of the debt off. I'm very lucky in that I recently inherited some money AND have had a tax rebate of 1200.

Basically, should I get something in writing? We made an agreement over the phone, with a reference, but it seems all a little too easy to just ring up on the 25th and pay with my debit card. What do you think?
