I'm having a sort of 'candles and crystals' theme, so am hiring 8 tall candelabras from a friend, which my florist is going to decorate with ivy and other bits, and they'll have tall candles in. And I've bought 2,000 scatter crystals (1,000 each in two sizes) to throw on the tables. I got these from ebay for about £3 for each bag. There's also going to be fairy lights everywhere.

What is your colour scheme/general wedding theme? What time of year are you getting married? I'm sure we can come up with some ideas if you give us a bit more info! :)

October the bridesmaids dress is purple http://www.janenorman.co.uk/fcp/product/buy-fashion-look-fabulous/A-List-Style/embroidered-bandeau-maxi-dress/8383?colour=purple other than that, i've nothing in the way of ideas i don't think i'll be allowed/want candles due to the amount of children that'll be there, My dress is a medieval style and the men will be in kilts.

I am thinking of decorating the venue with little lanterns, seem to be able to get them for under £5 - if you don't want real candles, those battery ones might look just as good. You could always tie a tartan ribbon on.
Another way to decorate is to use something that you can re-use, give as gifts etc, so potted plants rather than cut flowers for example. My wedding is in January, I am yet to meet with the florist but might go for planted spring bulbs for the table centre pieces, ie mini daffs, hyacinths etc
To be honest I think if we had no table centres, people wouldn't really notice, so try not to get caught up in the pressure of it all! x

What syle of venue is it?
I went to see my venue on Saturday & it was set up for a Wedding.
Their decorations were gerberas in gold fish bowls.
These are quite contemporary, but in my oppinion, didn't suit the venue, which is a converted barn in a rural setting. I would prefern natural English garden flowers in jam jars or something.

It also depends on whther you're having a theme...

Haven't got a theme unless you count budget :D
    It's a straightforward function room.

    We're keeping it simple :)

The wedding flowers are tulips so will be having simple vases of tulips on each table. Instead of water we have water crystals to add some colour :)

The vases are £2 at Tesco, water crystals are a total of £4 for all of them and the flowers are 70p a stem. So in total it's about £6 per table :)

my venue provides centre pieces but i was going to hire some glasses, the short tumbler style, fill them with water and float a single flower head in them-gerberas are perfect for this
you could have a set of 3 glasses per table if theyr big tables then scatter some glitter around them
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
