Gas for car air-conditioning

Does anyone know of an individual or garage who will re-charge the gas in the air con system on a car at a reasonable price. It is around £65 in Craigavon.
I know that Charles Hurst have a deal if you get your car serviced but unfortunately mine doesn't need serviced until around Oct / Nov.
Regards
Stephen

You could try Kwik Fit but a quick look at their website doesn't show a price so you'd need to call them.
Edit: a Google search suggests maybe around the £45 mark but some people say to be wary of them trying to find faults with your car while doing the air-con.0 -
Had mine doen by Kwikfit with no real problems. Any decent garage should be able to sort though it's usually in and around £50. Try KD cars of Gilford to see if they do it.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Some of the smaller garages don't have the equipment. They usually use a local mobile service which covers their area in a van.
Get a mobile contact number of one of them. Can be done in your driveway0 -
I Just got mine done last week. Nissan Charles Hurst @ Mallusk. Cost me £39.95 all in!!!!- Full re-charge.
Took about an hour. Very happy with price and car now ice....0 -
Kwik Fit are good for this, I've used them before. They're £29.99 at the minute and say that they won't charge if it doesn't need done. As long as you're prepared to say 'no' to any offers of changing your tyres, I see no problem in using them for this.0

I had my Kia serviced on 7th June...I told them that my air con wasn't cold any more. They changed the air and pollen filter - for approx £30 -which initiallly seemed to do the trick.... but not anymore
I've just phoned Charles Hurst Kia Boucher Road and have been told that it'll be £59 to have it re-gassed (??) .
I was interested to see your post rolo, but I've just phoned Charles Hurst Mallusk to be told they too charge £59so if you've any tip's about how you got it done for £39.95 I'd love to know

Really don't know. When I phoned them I was quoted around £35-£40 for the re-gas. Actaul total cost was £39.95, they checked the filters as well, but they were fine. Possible mention to them that you know some-one who got it done for £39.95 and see what they say. Good luck...........I thought it was a bargain.0 -
I recently got mine re-charged, however my Air Con still feels like its throwing out hot air.
Would could be the possible problem with my car's Air Conditioning? or what's the soloution to my problem. The mechanic recommended the re-charge, but it doesn't seem to be working.0 -
Any decent air-con place will perform a leak test first before recharging. The o-rings used in the pipes can degrade over time.
The pollen filter should be changed every 2 or 3 years.
Failing that the compressor or condenser could be faulty.
BTW - most places charge different prices for a recharge depending on the time of year , apparently it can be cheaper to get it done in winter0 -
If you use the air con regularly to keep the seals lubricated then there shouldn't ever be a need for a re-gas unless there is a leak. Some people never turn it on except for a few weeks in the summer and that leads to problems0
