Hiya there,
I have noticed that I tend to feel sleepy after eating food with carbs for lunch, can anyone suggest any non-carb lunches I can make for college so I cant fall asleep while teachers are talking. the only thing I can think is salad and I was sick of that last year!
Funny, I never have this problem for dinner just seems to be after the lunch period I just want to zzz...!

You could try home made soup either in a flask or, if you have the facilities, to heat in a microwave. As long as you include some protein as well as veg it should keep you going OK. Raw veggies with a dip of some sort - I know it's a bit like salad but it's nice.
Have you experimented with different sources of carbohydrate to see if it's actually just one thing eg wheat that makes you sleepy? If you haven't tried this it could be worth experimenting with things like brown rice, rye bread potato based salads?
Sorry - I can't thik of anything else at the moment - but it is 3.30 am after all.:D0 -
I used to work with a guy who would eat a (small) whole chicken for lunch!
Chicken drumsticks?
Have you tried wraps? I know they have carbs but not as many as bread or potatoes?0 -
I have a similar issue, but am fine with oatcakes - so you could try them with cheese/chutney maybe even meat?
What about making pasrtyless quiche?0 -
how about :
a tub of cottage cheese mixed with chopped cucumber, celery, and spring onions.
Egg mayonnaise.
Slices of cheese,celery sticks,cherry tomatoes.
Tuna mixed with mayonnaise, chopped celery, onion, cucumber etc.
Roll ups made with slices of ham wrapped around philadelphia cheese, this can also be done with smoked salmon around philly.
Home made veg soups.
A platter of sliced cooked meats, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, pickle etc.
Cold cooked sausages,boiled eggs,tomatoes.
Scotch eggs
Sure there is much more but can't think at moment:rolleyes:
