PayDay loans - do they all require you to have a landline?

Options
My mum was applying for a Loanfinder loan via Wonga - but she couldnt get it to application stage as she entered her mobile number for her home number as she doesnt have a landline. She just needs the funds till Friday when she gets paid so that is why she was wanting this type of loan as the charge is less than what she would get in bank charges till her pay goes through...Do they all rquire you to have a landline? Is there an alternative she could try?

She did try getting a soft credit search done on her credit report but moneyexpert or whoever it was couldnt manage to do it, even though she has stayed there for over a year, and was a postal voter this year so must be on the electoral role? Also she gets wages and also tax credits due to low income - does she add both together and include that as total income when filling in forms?

I think she had a CCJ or default in last 6 years though she paid all her debts off about 3-4 years ago, and a student loan she forgot about from the 80's in the last 2 years...she has no credit and hasnt had credit for at least a year so not sure if this is why her credit rating may be low?

    Hi,

Please be careful with Payday loans!

Look at all the people, just on this forum alone (let alone all over the web), who have had grief from 'Wonga'..

I'm not sure regarding the landline query. Call them and ask?

Could your Mum, not ask her bank, for a small interest free overdraft, instead of borrowing from those sharks?

    Good Luck,

    Sim.
  • I agree, everything I have heard with regards to Wonga has been negative. Borrowing from them may very result in increased levels of debt.
Although as you said its only till FRiday so it may not be too bad if its paid back asap. Why not provide an alternative landline number such as your own? Or is that not convenient?
